Efficiency is a key part of my methodology second only to safety and tied closely to customer satisfaction which is oftentimes a result of how i work anyway.
Whilst my approach will vary job-to-job as variables change you can see in the above photos how I work in a step by step fashion to deliver consistent and tidy results.
First I trim the lowest section nice and tight to prevent the hedge, or in this case individual tree, from slowly encroaching on surrounding areas.
Secondly I come in just as tight on an upper section, ideally always angled slightly in from the lower section to prevent the tops from overweighting and flopping over.
Then I connect those two facets smoothly and progress upwards in hedge trimmer wide sections making sure to go higher than the top edge (this prevents the “shoulders” from overhanging as they grow back).
Panultimately we get our ladders out and trim the top just as tight if not more so to keep that under control whilst blending the shoulders over neatly.
Then its just a thorough raking up of the trimmings but making sure to give the hedge or tree a jolly good shake first to remove any hanging pieces before blowing away the tiny pieces which are too small for the rake.
